Location: Online via Zoom - In association with Love Mindfulness

Next Start Date: Wednesday 6 October, 7pm-9pm, 8 Wednesday Evenings

Why train in compassion?

In recent years a wave of enthusiasm for mindfulness practice has spread across the globe.  Now a second wave of interest is developing from new research showing that training in kindness and compassion can bring us healthier and happier relationships, with ourselves as well as with others.

While anxiety and stress are known to have detrimental effects on our immune systems, it is now being shown that positive emotions can boost our body’s immunity. People with greater compassion, including self-compassion, are less fearful and better able to cope with adversity and take good care of themselves.

Participants will need to purchase the course book: A practical Guide to Mindfulness-based Compassionate Living: Living with Heart by Erik van den Brink and Frits Koster.

The cheapest places we found to buy the book are Blackwells bookshop or on Amazon.

What can I expect from a compassion course?

  • The Compassion Course is a further development from the Mindfulness Courses and complements our Mindfulness-based Wise Awareness Course.
  • You will discover how learning to respond with kindness to difficult emotions and actively cultivating positive emotions enhances your mental health and wellbeing.
  • You will learn to use meditation and the power of the imagination to develop qualities of kindness, compassion, forgiveness and gratitude .
  • There will be encouragement and support to maintain a home practice for the duration of the course.
  • Sessions are conducted in a friendly and open atmosphere to encourage sharing and relationship building.
  • The course is based on the work of Erik van den Brink and Frits Koster and uses their course book 'A practical Guide to Mindfulness-based Compassionate Living: Living with Heart'
