Smartphone Photography

Tutor: Eva Kalpadaki
Location: Evolution Arts, 2 Sillwood Terrace, Brighton BN1 2LR
Next dates: Sunday workshop 17 March 2019

Discover the power of mobile phone photography and learn how to capture amazing photos. You will explore the technical and creative elements of mobile phone photography and learn the tips, tricks and skills to help you capture that perfect image. The class will be taught on an iPhone but you can use any phone that has a camera.

During the workshop you'll get grips with the basics of photographic exposure (ISO, aperture and shutter speed) and photographic compostition, and put them into practise during a photographic session in town or on the seafront. Feedback will be given on the photos you take during class and you'll be shown how to edit them on editing apps and share them on social networks.

A handout in a PDF format with everything covered in the session will be sent at the end of the workshop.

About the tutor

Eva Kalpadaki was born in Greece. After she was awarded a Greek State Foundation scholarship she moved to UK to complete a PhD in Arts and Communication at UCA. She is a qualified teacher holding a PGCE teaching certificate from the University of Brighton. She is currently working as a fine art photographer and photography tutor. In her artistic practice she is not using the photographic medium to produce a record and a document of the world, which is what we usually expect to see in a photograph. She is using it to question the nature of photography and to cause a tension in what we are looking at. She is playing between representation and abstraction. She was selected for the Bloomberg New Contemporaries 2008 exhibition among numerous solo and group shows. www.playingandreality.co.uk
