This course is an opportunity for care for carers; for respite, relaxation, and awareness. We will build a 'medicine box' of self-practices to help cope with the demands of care while creating space for the caregiver. We will use self-massage, meditation, deep listening, sharing, and other activities and exercises to help deal with the difficulties, demands and blessings of caring for someone.

The work can be draining and overwhelming, and might cause many health and emotional issues for the caregiver (e.g. depression, sleeping issues, adrenal fatigue, physical pain). This is a time for self-protection, radical self-care, to recharge one's energy and to learn practical skills to deal with exhaustion, strong emotions, trauma, isolation, responsibility, boundaries, and how to manage stress, in a supportive and caring space.

This workshop is for caregivers (professional carers and people caring for family / husband, wife, child, mother, father, chronic illness, dementia, etc). As we have received a small amount of National Lottery funding to cover the main costs of running this course, this course is offered on a donation basis.

About Claudia

Using different healing arts, Claudia developed self-healing and relaxation exercises to empower people to take care of themselves. Through her own self-healing work she overcame challenging health issues and life situations. Over the years Claudia has cared for family, and also her partner, who passed away with cancer. She also worked as a live-in carer with women living with Alzheimer’s and in end-of-life; she is compassionate in supporting people.

With nearly 2 decades of experience in Shiatsu, Claudia developed a thriving practice in Lisbon treating a wide range of clients, many of them weekly, including integrating her Shiatsu treatments to complement Bioenergetics therapy. In London, Claudia studied Zen Shiatsu and Seiki, as well as other energy medicine and healing arts, such as Jikiden Reiki, Jin Shin Jyutsu and Energy Clearing. She practices Qi Gong and meditation. Claudia has her Shiatsu practice in Brighton. She is also a film maker and lives by the sea.
