Student will learn to plan a tablet woven design, make tablets, set up a weaving and weave.

Each student will come away with their own set of tablets, instructions for weaving and 2 completed projects.

About the tutor

Claire is a trained weaver with a personal practice and several years teaching experience. She teaches textile skills from seed to end product and offers specialised weaving courses, including tablet weaving.

"My passion as a crafts person is to re-embed into society traditional skills that generations past have relied on for their well-being and survival.

I teach skills people can take pride in and which facilitate a culture of ecological and social well-being. We develop together an understanding of what it means to live sustainably in an industrialized society through practicing craft skills and explore practically the potential this presents for personal enrichment, for ethical, social empowerment and ecological well-being.

My personal textile work has a strong connection to the earth. I use mainly natural fibres and enjoy plant-dyeing, making weaving equipment and weaving ancient techniques into a modern context."
